VERONA'S EXHIBITION
The booth at Verona Legend Cars will also exhibit a completely restored FIAT 500 with zero mileage. A commemorative Targa Oro (Golden Plate) of the First World War. The picture of Caporetto will be imprinted onto the soft top, and episodes which broke up the brotherhood among the people pictured on the bonnet, starting with the Sarajevo shooting. Each side of the car will depict military shrines of the Destra and Sinistra Piave (right and left) river banks. The 500's Club Castelfranco Veneto has been operating since 2006 with a view to joining people, memories and territory, and it does so in a very special way. First of all, it restores Fiat 500s which it then puts up as lottery prizes, releasing the proceeds for charity (the latest beneficiary was the Fondazione Città della Speranza in Padua, dedicated to raising funds for research and treatment of childhood leukaemia). The second distinguishing feature of the club is its relationship with the surrounding territory: The Fiat 500s become a means to discover it, to travel slowly across it and learn to preserve it. The third distinguishing feature is its spirit of adventure. Every three years, a “chosen company” from its members (an average of 300 every year) undertakes a challenge behind the wheel of 500s. In 2014, the destination was North Cape, in 2017 the entire Italian Genoa-Reggio Calabria-Venice coastline; in 2020 it will be the US Coast to Coast along the famous Route 66. Every time they meet up for a rally the threshold is set at 85 cars: six kms of 500s joined by the same spirit of participation and fun that animates Verona Legend Cars. After the event, the commemorative lottery will be held in Castelfranco Veneto at 9 pm on 17th June 2018. Even the date was no casual decision: between 15th and 24th June 1918 is precisely when the last great Austrian attack took place on the banks of the Piave during which, on 19th June, the pilot Francesco Baracca was shot down, the symbol of whom – the prancing horse - went on to become the Ferrari emblem.
